What is Spiritualism?
Spiritualism is the science, philosophy, and religion of continuous
life, based upon the demonstrated fact of communication by means of mediumship with those who live in the spirit world.
A Spiritualist is one who believes, as the basis of his or her
religion, in the communication between this and the spirit world by means
of mediumship, and who endeavors to mold his or her character and conduct
in accordance with the highest teachings derived from such communication.

What is a Medium?
A Medium is one who is sensitive to vibrations from the spirit world,
and through whose instrumentality, intelligences in that world are able to
convey messages and produce the phenomena of Spiritualism.
A Spiritualist healer is one who, either through his or her own
inherent power or through mediumship, is able to impart vital, curative force to pathological conditions.

What is death?
The experience of death is a separation of the spirit from the body.
Each soul simply moves on to a higher expression of life in the spirit world.

Is it true that Spiritualists talk to the dead?
Spiritualists believe in the continuity of life, so technically,
Spiritualists speak with those who have passed over to the spirit world. Communication with the spirit world allows us to
experience the revelations of spiritual progression and teaches us the philosophy of right living.
Mediumship is not fortune telling. Communications often refer to
experiences of the physical expression of life because the seeker may ask
about these circumstances. Our loved ones and guides in the spirit world
concern themselves in our matters only when we ask for their help and
guidance. To do otherwise would be interference in our free will, which
would be a violation of the natural law of the universe.

Does a Spiritualist accept the teachings of Jesus?
Yes. Jesus is recognized as being a great master teacher and the
greatest healer and prophet of this world. The acceptance of spirit communication does not conflict with the teachings of Jesus.
Spiritualists also regard as beneficial the teachings of other masters whose lives exemplified the Christ Consciousness.

How do Spiritualists view Heaven and Hell?
Heaven and Hell are not places, but rather states of consciousness that
can be experienced in the physical body, as well as after the change
called death.

Do Spiritualists believe in salvation, or
vicarious atonement?
No. Each person is responsible for his or her own thoughts, words, and
deeds. Acts that injure others always react on the doer, retarding
spiritual progress and development.

What is a Spiritualist worship service like?
A USCL worship service is much like the worship services of other
faiths, with singing of hymns, reading of spiritual texts, preaching of
sermons, and a warm sense of community. The primary difference is the
inclusion of spirit messages, or readings, at the end of our services.
Spiritual healing services may also be held prior to some worship
services.
