All mediumship development courses are held at the church. They are designed for those wishing to learn about the subject for their own personal use as well as those wishing to serve in a church setting or give public or private readings. If you are interesting in pursuing mediumship development, the Fundamentals of Mediumship course is a wonderful place to begin. If you wish to pursue your studies further, we offer three more courses (cleverly named Level 1, Level 2 and Level 3) to increase your skills. Anyone who has completed all courses (Fundamentals and Levels 1 through 3) and expresses a desire may continue to study and practice and become a ‘USCL Certified Medium’.
Each course is taught in a fun, casual environment that encourages open discussion and explanation. The courses are continually being updated to include new knowledge and techniques, and include numerous hands on activities that allow you to practice and experience as many of the topics covered as possible. If you have previously completed one of these classes, you may audit that class again (to refresh your knowledge and skills) once for FREE.
To supplement the practice time allotted in class, each student is encouraged to participate in the mediumship practice circles held at the church (currently on the first Sunday and third Thursday of each month). This circle is only $15 and is open to all students; no experience necessary.
Course Length and Tuition
Each course meets for two hours weekly and is $20/week, which includes all needed materials. Each class in the Mediumship Development curriculum meets for eight or ten weeks – tuition is $200 per student. A certificate of completion will be awarded for each course if the minimum attendance requirements have been met, and a passing grade has been earned on the homework and final exams. The courses are listed below in the order of their progression.
The Fundamentals of Mediumship course is open to anyone interested in exploring this fascinating subject and developing their own abilities. It presents several mediumship related topics, beginning with an introduction to Spiritualism, including its principles and a brief history. From there, you’ll be introduced to the base system of knowledge needed to begin a thorough study of mediumship. Each student will be given the opportunity to use the methods learned to receive messages from spirit and pass them on to those present.
The Mediumship Level 1 course is open to graduates of Fundamentals. It moves into a more focused study and includes the knowledge and skills needed to find and develop your own, natural style of mediumship and provide a strong base on which to build your skills. As in Fundamentals, each student will be given the opportunity to use the methods learned to receive messages from spirit and pass them on to those present.
Mediumship Level 2 is open to graduates of Mediumship Level 1. It incorporates all the knowledge and techniques learned in the previous courses and continues to enhance your forward progress by introducing you to skills and tools that will add to your repertoire, allowing for more depth and a wider scope in your mediumship. Because this course is designed for those wishing to serve in either public or private venues, more class time will be allotted for messages and critiques, as well as presentation. A student reading event will be included as part of the coursework to enable you to apply your skills in an encouraging and welcoming environment. Your participation in this event is voluntary unless you are enrolled in or plan to apply to the Mediumship Certification Program; in both of those cases, this event is a part of the course requirements.
Mediumship Level 3 is open to graduates of Mediumship Level 2. It focuses on techniques that fine tune your mediumship skills in order to get you comfortable serving in private and public venues and provides you with even more tools that you can use to supplement your readings. Most of the class time will be devoted to giving messages and practicing new methods of providing evidence of Spirit . U.S.C.L. will host one student reading event and will allow each student to serve on platform during a Sunday service in order to give you the opportunity to enhance your practical experience. As mentioned above, your participation in these events is voluntary unless you are enrolled in or plan to apply to the Mediumship Certification Program; in both of those cases, these events are part of the course requirements.
The Mediumship Certification Program is open to graduates of the Mediumship Level 3 course who have obtained the recommendation of that instructor. Detailed requirements for this program and the certification process are distributed to students during the Fundamentals of Mediumship course. If you’d like a copy, please contact Rev. Mary Lynn Crawford (Director of Education) at email@example.com.
Course schedules and registration forms are available here and at the church. Enrollment for each course will be closed one week after the first class. If you would like more information, or if you have any questions or suggestions, please feel free to contact Rev. Mary Lynn via email (firstname.lastname@example.org) or phone, [(513) 891 – 5424].
