Sunday, January 5, 2014 12:00 – 1:00 pm, Mediumship Practice Circle
This circle is open to anyone wanting to attend; no formal training or previous experience is necessary. Please understand that even thought a U.S.C.L. certified medium will be facilitating, this is NOT a teaching circle. It’s a chance for you to dust off your mediumship skills and practice with a group of like-minded people. A love donation basket will be available if you’d like to add to the good Karma on your path.
Sunday, January 5, 2014 12:00 – ? U.S.C.L. Board of Directors meeting
Board meetings are open to U.S.C.L. members. Comments and suggestions are always welcomed. If you’d like to submit an agenda item, please send an email to firstname.lastname@example.org (or speak to a board member at church) no later than one week before each meeting.
Friday, January 10, 2014 7:00 – 8:00 pm (FREE) God’s Hands Outreach Event – “Military Pen Pals”
We are blessed to have a supportive, loving and caring congregation. One of U.S.C.L.’s goals for 2014 is to provide more opportunities for you to share those qualities with others through our God’s Hands program. The “Military Pen Pals” event will provide you with the name and address of a current military member, along with pens and stationery (and maybe some munchies). All we ask you to bring is a willingness to reach out and act a connection to the ‘world back home’.
Sunday, January 12, 2014 12:30 – 2:00 pm (starting at $10) Improved Read & Feed
We’ve always heard positive comments about U.S.C.L.’s Read and Feed events, but have recently heard that you wanted more time with the mediums. We listened and have increased the reading time to 15 minutes, AND did better still by keeping the initial price the same. Your home-cooked meal (served casual buffet style) and first reading will still be only $10!! Each additional 15 minute reading will be $10 each. As a bonus, we’ve increased the number of readers, too; four mediums will be on hand to add variety and help get you home sooner. Our Read and Feeds are a lot of fun and a deal that can’t be matched.
3 Sundays. January 19, January 26 and February 2, 2014 12:00 – 1:00pm ($10 per class or $25 for all 3)
The True History of the Bible
As the new year begins, we offer you the opportunity to focus on another beginning – that of the Bible. Taught by Rev. Mary Lynn Crawford, this class explores how the Old Testament was written and came to be as well as information on what is NOT included and how it may have been changed due to error or disagreement.
This class will run for three consecutive weeks, for one hour each week.
- Week one is “Building Up”. It will cover creation, the Garden of Eden, Adam and Eve and other beginnings.
- Week two is “Tearing Down” and will discuss Noah’s Ark, Sodom and Gomorrah and similar endings.
- Week three will conclude the series with “Current Events” such as women’s issues, homosexuality and like topics.
You may register for one or two weeks of your choosing for only $10 / week or register for all three for $25. Registration forms are available at the church and online. They must be received no later than Sunday, January 12th, 2014.
Friday, January 24, 7:00 – 8:30 pm – $5 Friday
Five Dollar Fridays are back! This month’s topic is “Life Between Lives”. Have you ever questioned what happens to the soul after the body dies, but before it reincarnates into another body? How does it spend time in a timeless world? Who does it meet there? Where does it live? What does it think about – and how does it judge – the experiences and people it encountered on Earth? We can help you with the answers. Laura Read will present the story and findings of Dr. Michael Newton, a renowned hypnotherapist who stumbled upon the fact that there are lives between lives and was amazed by the numerous details that began to emerge as a common thread in his clients’ experiences. Plan on attending; the information and stories are comforting, fascinating and potentially life-changing!
Saturday, February 8, 2014. (10:00 A.M. – 5 P.M., with a one hour break for lunch.) Praying All Ways All sacred scriptures admonish us to pray; in fact, the Bible tells us to “pray without ceasing”. For some of us though, our prayer life isn’t what we’d like it to be. We might feel we don’t know how to communicate with God, or that our prayers (when we remember to pray them ) aren’t fulfilling and don’t give us the spiritual comfort we hope they will.
There are many ways of attuning our consciousness to God’s consciousness. In the Praying All Ways class, taught by Rev. Susan Hill-Mellot, the discussion will start with the value of prayer. You’ll determine your learning style based on Howard Gardner’s multiple intelligences theory, then explore the ways of praying based on your results, including music, art, writing, contemplation and movement. You’ll also learn about the Daily Examen, a short and simple technique first used by St. Ignatius Loyola to help you keep track of your prayers.
The early bird price for this class is $50 if we receive your registration on or before Saturday, January 18th, 2014. The price for all registrations received from Sunday, January 19th – Saturday, February 1st will be $65. Registrations must be received on/before February 1st.
Saturday, March 8th, 2014. (10:00 A.M. – 5 P.M., with a one hour break for lunch.). Colors, Numbers and Symbols You don’t need to be a medium to know that learning how to interpret these three items can greatly benefit your ability to live an intuitive life. This day long class is open to anyone who wants to improve their mediumship or be more open and understanding of the guideposts in their life. Rev. Susan Hill-Mellot will explain the general meanings of colors and how to use them to strengthen your aura, will introduce you to some simple numerology and the deeper meanings of numbers, including your Inner Guidance Number, and will conclude this day long class by discussing symbolism in mediumship and dreams, the five universal shapes and how you can use them for guidance.
The early bird price for this class is $50 if we receive your registration on or before Saturday, February 23rd, 2014. The price for all registrations received from Sunday, February 24th – Saturday, March 1st will be $65. Registrations must be received on/before March 1st.
Saturday, May 10th, 2014. (10:00 A.M. – 4 P.M., with a one hour break for lunch.). Intuitive Tarot This workshop is like no other Tarot class you’ve seen. Most classes teach you the meaning of the cards as determined by someone else. Intuitive Tarot teaches you how to discern the meaning of each card – individually and in spreads – and how to personalize your deck using the materials provided. This can increase your accuracy in a reading because you’re connecting to your intuition rather than pulling from someone else’s opinion. You’ll understand the meaning of reversed cards in a different light and be introduced to the esoteric meanings as well. In addition, you’ll be given the opportunity to practice the skills learned and to both give and receive a Tarot reading. This workshop is presented by Rev. Rick Webster, an ordained Spiritualist minister and certified hypnotherapist who has worked with Tarot for more than 40 years and who has studied at several mystery schools and with the cabala.
The materials fee of $25 covers an instructional workbook with space for your notes, a “Highlights of Tarot” book, a line-drawn deck and a set of colored pencils. The early bird price for this class is $50 if we receive your registration on or before Saturday, March 22nd, 2013. The price for all registrations received from Sunday, March 23rd – Sunday, April 6th will be $65. Registrations must be received on/before April 6th to allow time to order the materials.
