Upcoming events & classes

Sat. Sept. 2 10:30-11:30am (followed by lunch?) Service Saturday
On the first Saturday of each month, we will be gathering at the church for an hour or so to clean and care for our precious space. This is an opportunity to help USCL and to make great, lifelong friends at the same time. After an hour of work at the church, those who are interested will go to lunch together at a local restaurant.
Sun. Sept. 3 12:15-1:45pm Mediumship Class ($15)
This stand alone class is held twice per month (on the 1st Sunday and 3rd Thursday). This class is open to mediumship students of any level (even those with no experience who would just like to ‘try it out’) and is taught by one of our USCL Certified Mediums or Ministers.
Tues. Sep. 5 – Oct. 25 7:00-9:00pm Fundamentals of Mediumship Class ($200)
This the Foundation Course on which our other ‘Levels of Mediumship’ courses are built and is a required pre-requisite for those courses. This course is open to anyone interested in exploring this fascinating subject and developing their own abilities. It presents several mediumship related topics, beginning with an introduction to Spiritualism, including its principles and a brief history.  From there, you’ll be introduced to the base system of knowledge needed to begin a thorough study of mediumship. Each student will be given the opportunity to use the methods learned to receive messages from spirit and pass them on to those present. If you are interested or have questions, please call Rev. Mary Lynn Crawford or send an email to ‘education@uscl.org’.
Fri. Sept. 8 7:00-8:30pm $5 Friday Lecture ($5)
This month’s talk is by John Bacon – topic to be determined.

Other dates to keep in mind:

Sun. Sept. 10 (after service) – Board meeting

(and what’s life without a giggle or two?)

Jesus, Moses, and an old bearded guy were playing golf. On the first tee, Moses shanked his ball into a lake. He parted the water and hit his ball onto the green.
Jesus teed off, hitting his ball into another water hazard. But he walked on water and stroked his ball just short of the cup.
Then the old man with the beard stepped up for his tee shot. He hit the ball with tremendous force, but hooked it badly. The ball bounced off the clubhouse roof, hit the cart path, and rolled down a hill into a pond, coming to rest on a lily pad. A frog hopped over and picked up the ball, then an eagle swooped down, snatched the frog, and flew over the green. The frog dropped the ball, and it rolled into the cup for a hole in one.
Moses turned to Jesus and said, “I hate playing golf with your dad.”
